Denny's World

I decided that one of my favorite umm well looks on lookbook comes from Dennis (Denny) Balmaced who is currently the number 5 male of all time (on lookbook).  He is a humble and generous chap from NJ with a killer fashion sense. I was lucky enough to get an interview from him and here it is!

Q: How old are you and where are you from?

A: 22 years old and for New Jersey.

Q: It wasn’t until my first year of University that I began to experiment with fashion and actually enjoy what I wore out of the house, when did you become a fashion conscious being or were you born like this. Lol

A: Umm, haha, I wish I was born like this so I can look back at my old pictures without getting embarassed. I'm going to have to say High School, that's when it really hit me, these days kids become fashion conscious earlier because of what they see on t.v., movies, magazines etc. When I was a kid, I was too busy playing outside and such. Once I entered high school that's when I fell in love with fashion. I always looked different from my peers, a stand out, which is good and bad depending on he situation, but at the end of the day, I was content with my myself and that's what mattered the most.

Q: Where would you say your inspiration for your fashion ideas come from?

A: Hmm, they come from everywhere, movies, internet, magazines etc...I just try to mix every style I see together and try to make it my own.

Q: What is your favorite color?

A: Hmm, every color. I try to use all the colors, but orange is the least color I use, I don't like how my skin tone looks with it.

Q: How has your style evolved over the past few years?

A: Oh, great question. My style evolves everyday, first I was into the skater look, that evolved to the "emo" phase which evolved to how I dress now. It was back in high school where I started wearing ties and skinny jeans. Yup, skinny jeans, back where the only options where girl jeans, haha...Seriously, thank god they brought back skinny jeans for guys, what a relief. After High School, that's where I really stepped it up and just try to wear anything I like and not stick to one style. Grunge, Preppy, Hip hop...I do it all, I don't base what I wear to what I listen to, I just wear what I want.

Q: I find a lot of my clothes at thrift stores, where do you get most of your clothing from, and where is your favorite place to shop?

A: Yup, me too! Thrift stores and vintage stores are my favorite as well. I don't believe in name brands, to me, it's not how much what your wearing is, it's how you wear it.

Q: Your style seems to range over a lot of genres, what would you call your look if you had to give it a name? (any name that comes to mind)

A: Um, nothing came to mind, I didn't want to be vain and just call it "denny".

Q: Would you say that you put an effort into getting dressed each day?

A: Yes, you have to put effort everyday, specially if you are into fashion. People who say they don't put effort to what they wear and seem effortless are liars. I'm just saying. If you love fashion, putting effort is a must.

Q: I see that you have a lot of fitted hats, how many do you own and which is your favorite?

A: Hmm, last I counted I own 35, it's not that much really. My favorite I would have to say is my Philippine Pride one. I represent it with mad pride.

Q: I like the fact that your looks seem to have a theme to them, would you agree with the statement that each of your looks have a theme?

A: Yes, I agree. Well most of them have themes, the ones with no themes are just days that I woke up late or was too tired the night before to prepare what I want to wear the next day.

Q: How long does it take you to get dressed in the morning?

A: Well, not long, I prepare what I wear the night before. So I would say 10 minutes.

Q: I see that Cool Kids, Gym Class Heroes, and Regina Spektor are among some of your favorite artists, what other kinds of music do you listen to and what songs are you blasting through your headphones currently?

A: I listen to everything except country, it's really hard to love that genre, I have no idea why that is to me. Apparently it is the number music genre in the USA and I can't even listen to 5 seconds of it. Recently, I've been listening to a lot 90s alternative rock, seriously 80s and 90s music is where it's at.

Q: One of my favorite stores is urban outfitters, I used to work there spend all of my money shopping lol. Have you ever worked in a clothing store and basically worked to shop?

A: Nope, but I've been asked to work at Urban Outfitters before, and I would definately work to shop.

Q: If you could meet any famous person dead or alive who would they be?

A: Andre 3000, that's my fashion hero right there.

Q: Are there any current looks that you are working on?

A: Nope, they just come to me out of nowhere, I don't plan ahead.

Q: What is your favorite food?

A: Italian food, definitely.

Q: I see that you dressed up as QuailMan from the cartoon Doug, I love the way Nickelodeon used to be back in the 90s, what other old Nickelodeon shows do you think they should bring back?

A: All of them! Nickelodeon was the best when I was little boy...Doug, Hey! Arnold, Rocko's Modern Life...more!

Q: Ok last question, what do you want to do when you get older, what is your ultimate dream?

A: Just be happy and content with life.

^^amazing! =]
